ETEL holds Sustainability as a fundamental pillar of its business philosophy, the rational use of our woods and the preservation of our forests. We tested Bela Vista’s Cedar in our production and were surprised by its top quality.

“We, Brazilians, have always been looking for alternatives to timber production involving species of high commercial value, especially, species coming from other countries. Some endeavors have been attempted over the last 30 years, without however being committed to the appropriate genetic basis and always without gains in volumetric increments, resistance to pests and diseases, as well as the quality of the obtained shaft. I do not know of any success story in these endeavors, but rather, failures and losses involving those who tried. There has always been fashionable species!

Two years ago I came in contact with the BELA VISTA FORESTRY project, concerning the production of Toona ciliata (Australian cedar) clonal seedlings. What a good surprise! Thankfully, they managed to get genetic materials from different origins and different breeder trees of this kind through the CSIRO (an Australian Research Department). In addition to setting a base population of this species in Brazil, they careful studied it over the years and through cloning, by rooting cuttings, they produced different clones considering those and other forestry parameters. Thanks to wide variety of plant material evaluated, they now have plants originated from sites of different altitudes and rainfall rates. These conditions make it easier to the seedling customer to check whether or not his/her region may receive some of the selected clones.

It is a unique endeavor, of great importance to reforestation wood producers, which has become a significant reference for Brazilian forestry. “

“The acquisition of quality seedlings with a certificate of origin is one of the success factors in forestry investments. In partnership with universities, Bela Vista developed and now offers to the market, high quality cloned Australian Cedar seedlings.”

“We chose Bela Vista Forestry to partner with in our reforestation project because of their professionalism, expert knowledge and the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of their team.

These traits have been confirmed throughout our already six-year old partnership. This motivated us to join them in new projects, such as planting cedar, with which we are greatly excited and anticipate excellent results.”

“The new forest species that are being worked on in Brazil represent big promises to generate employment and income. For that to become a reality, it is paramount to invest in breeding and forest management programs that can lead to mastering the technology associated with this cultivar – which is exactly what Bela Vista Forestry has been doing very successfully with the Australian cedar. “

have been working with the Bela Vista Australian cedar for 18 months now. We planted the 1321, 1110 and 1120 clones according to different soil conditions, varying from areas that were previously coffee plantations all the way to recently corrected fields of land.

The areas of greatest fertility clearly demonstrate great productive potential of the clones.

We are very pleased with the clones’ development and disease resistance, and also with the technical support provided by Bela Vista.

We planted 150 ha and feel confident to double our planting in the next three years.
